| This project required a
multi-utility installation that included two separate distribution
sub-stations. The site itself was very restricted, and the off-site
mains route was particularly challenging. The installation of BT
infrastructure was also included in the scheme. |
| |
| The Client had accepted a
quotation for the works twelve months previously, but the project
appeared to have stalled. Problems included: |
|
|
Escalating costs |
 |
Inability to get design approval for the electrical works |
 |
A quotation that did not meet the technical requirements of the
scheme |
 |
Inability to secure a temporary supply of sufficient size |
 |
Programme Conflicts |
|
| |
| Using our experience of
delivering large multi-utility schemes, Walker Sime were able to
achieve the following: |
|
|
A re-quote that was actually lower than the original, and that included an agreement to waive any
inflationary uplift for a further twelve months. |
 |
Greater cost certainty for the Client. Additional works that
would have been required to meet the Client's particular
programme and energisation requirements were identified in
advance and incorporated into the re-quote. |
 |
A fully optimized design that met both the technical
and logistical requirements of the scheme and the approval of the asset owner. |
 |
A scheme that allowed for the large temporary supply
required. By carefully managing the works, this was achieved at
an extremely
low additional cost to the main scheme. |
