| This large-scale strategic project
called for a multi-utility scheme incorporating a new primary
sub-station and a requirement for 10% renewables. |
| The Client had obtained a
quotation for the utilities scheme via another Consultant of £9.7
million. As well as being significantly more expensive than the
Client had anticipated, this quotation contained a number of
significant exclusions which exposed the Client to an unacceptable
level of risk. |
| Using the same tender
information, and by employing both their knowledge of the
competitive utilities market and their technical Project Management
expertise, Walker Sime were able to obtain an alternative quotation
of £4.5 million. This offered a number of significant benefits; |
A cost saving of £5.2 million |
More advantageous payment terms |
A technical solution better suited to the Client's needs |
Fewer exclusions |
Lower risk and greater cost certainty |
