Manchester Civic Quarter Heat Network

Services

The Civic Quarter Heat Network is a district heating network that is part of Manchester’s efforts to cut carbon emissions and improve air quality whilst providing heat and power to some of the City’s most iconic buildings.

The energy centre is located beneath the arches of the city’s tram lines along Lower Mosley Street and will contain a 3.3MW combined heat and power engine along with two 12MW boilers. The network consists of approximately 2km of pipework which extends through the heart of the Civic Quarter.

Walker Sime have provided Project Management services, working closely with the City Council to deliver this iconic project.
