The project involves the construction of an extension to the existing ship building hall, the extension of the existing fabrications facility, the construction of a new outfit hall building and associated offices and the construction of a new paint cell building, together with a new ship loading quay and around 700 m of new sheet piled river wall.
Each facility has overhead gantry cranes, welding facilities and specialist extraction to provide BAE with the an ultra-modern facilities for ship building.
The works also involve alterations to the existing docks, with new dock gates and alterations to the existing docks to facilitate construction of the new ships.
All the works will be carried out in a live environment with ship building continuing on the sites whilst the new facilities are constructed.
The services provided include initial cost estimating and business plan preparation; support in the development of the tender packages; tender assessment.
