Walker Sime are currently working as the Commercial Manager for United Utilities Renewable Energy Limited (UURE) who are an unregulated part of the United Utilities Water (UUW) business.
We are delivering the project life cycle Commercial Management services, from feasibility through to close out. UURE won a five year OJEU framework with UUW to provide them with a programme of renewable energies across their existing assets in order to reduce their carbon footprint, and reduce their energy bills (c£60m) so to pass on savings to their customers.
As part of this framework, solar, wind and hydro projects are being utilised at more than 80 of UU’s current sites in the North West. This programme of works is currently in the order of £90m with new sites being identified as opportunities on a daily basis with all projects let under the NEC 3 Option A form of contract. The solar energy accounts for approximately £80m of the programme and will deliver c70MW of renewable energy to UUW in the next 2 years (this amount of energy would be enough to power approximately 21,000 homes).
