Victoria Jordan set to Chair Key Sessions at the Design in Mental Health Conference

The Design in Mental Health conference (7-8 June, Coventry Building Society Arena) is an annual event for professionals in the mental health sector, focusing on the design, construction, refurbishment, management, and clinical provision of mental health environments. This year the conference and exhibition celebrates its 10th anniversary.
Attendees can access a packed conference over 2 days, where they will hear from experts in the field. Among them is Principal Project Manager at Walker Sime, Victoria Jordan, who will be chairing two insightful sessions at the conference.
Session 1 – 7th June 9.50 – 10.30
1. The Design of Mental Health Inpatient Facilities and Its Impact on Service Users and Staff: What is the Evidence Telling Us? Delivered by Dr Laura Rodriguez-Labajos from NHS Scotland Assure
2. A toolkit for Strategic Co-production in the Built Environment delivered by Raf Hamaizia of Cygnet Healthcare
As an experienced professional in the mental health industry, Victoria is well aware of the crucial role that the design of a mental health facility plays in the well-being and recovery of patients, as well as the overall experience of the staff working in these environments. In this session, Victoria and her conference colleagues will discuss the evidence surrounding the impact of design on both service users and staff.
Session 2 – 8th June 11.30 – 12.30
This session includes presentations from Jon Sell, Behavioural Health Planner at Stantec, discussing Community Crisis Care: Prototyping Subacute Crisis Units on a National Scale. As well as a presentation from Andrea Harman, Concept Developer at Saint-Gobain Ecophon Ltd, discussing PAS 6463 – Design for the Mind; Relating Guidance to Projects and the Positive Impact on Users of a Space.
And finally, a presentation from Trayn Volante, Occupational Therapy Head Acute and Urgent Care at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.
Victoria Jordan, is a Principal Project Manager at Walker Sime, and is part of the dedicated HealthCare team within Walker Sime and K2 (both part of HanmiGlobal). Victoria has extensive experience in mental health facility design and management. Her role in the Design in Mental Health conference as a session chair highlights her commitment to advancing the field and promoting evidence-based design principles. By exploring the impact of mental health facility design on service users and staff, as well as the importance of community crisis care, the sessions that Victoria is chairing will provide valuable insights and inspire attendees to drive positive change in mental health environments.
