Manchester Airport Terminal 2 Extension

Services

Walker Sime produced the measurements and bills for the project in its entirety with the exception of the Multi-Storey Car Park.

Working in conjunction with Laing O’Rourke, this is the largest project offered by the Manchester Airports group, which will increase the overall footprint of Terminal 2 by a whopping 150%.

Works include a new Aircraft Pier, Multi-Storey Car Park, Outbound Baggage, an extension to the Terminal itself, and all associated external works.

The project also includes an International Departure Lounge containing a total of 50 food, beverage, and retail outlets.

The piling installed throughout this project would cover the distance from Manchester to Nice!

Construction will be modular, utilising DfMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) whereby 70% of construction will be conducted off-site.

This process increases productivity by around 60% whilst offering an impressive 30% improvement on delivery schedule.

This 70:60:30 process is less wasteful and allows for greater on-site recycling of materials to deliver a ‘greener’ construction.
